Zesty Kiwi Salsa for Summer BBQs!

Kiwis are a delightful summer fruit – not only are they refreshing and tasty, but they're also packed with vitamin C and antioxidants! At Tru Value Foods, we love finding new ways to enjoy this vibrant fruit. This week, we're sharing a recipe for a zesty kiwi salsa that's perfect for adding a bright and tangy twist to your next BBQ.

This salsa is so easy to make, it only requires a few fresh ingredients and about 10 minutes of prep time. It's a crowd-pleaser that goes well with grilled fish, chicken, or even scooped up with tortilla chips.

  • For a sweeter salsa, add a tablespoon of chopped honey or agave nectar to the dressing.
  • If you don't have fresh cilantro, you can substitute with chopped mint.
  • Make sure your kiwis are ripe for the best flavor and sweetness. A ripe kiwi will have a slight give when pressed gently.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

  • 2 ripe kiwis, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely diced (optional, for a spicier kick)
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • In a medium bowl, combine the diced kiwi, red onion, jalapeno (if using), and cilantro.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the lime juice dressing over the salsa ingredients and toss gently to coat.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as desired.
